WASTE ANESTHESIA GAS MONITORING

REGULATIONS:

ACGIH has established maximum safe exposure levels to nitrous oxide and associated halogenated anesthetic agents. These limits are enforced by OSHA under the general duty clause. Furthermore, JCAHO recommends quarterly sampling for waste anesthesia gases. Frequent replacement of breathing circuits, wear and tear on gaskets, etc. can lead to periodic leaks.

ESP uses state of the art instrumentation (MIRAN 1B infrared spectrophotometer) for instantaneous readings of airborne anesthetic agents. This method allows instant correction of leaks.

PROGRAM COMPONENTS:

  Air sampling withn MIRAN 1B

Documentation of ambient N2O and halogenated agent levels

  Air exchange rate measurement

Documentation of employees and procedures during sampling

  Actual case or simulated measurements

Full leak detection of entire circuit

  Same day written test report
